What will we learn in Kindergarten?
The kindergarten curriculum has had many changes since many of us have been in Kindergarten. It is sometimes a mystery what the children are expected to learn by the end of kindergarten. The following list is what the students will learn and be expected to know by the end of kindergarten. I know some of these expecations seem advance but I promise each student will have the opportunity to discover and develop each of the following skills throughout his/her year in Kindergarten!

Know and identify all captial and lower case letters of the alphabet

Know and identify all sounds that correspond to each letter of the alphabet

Know 50 high frequency words (Ball Words)

Have the ability to identify rhyming words as well as supply a rhyming word

Understand and apply concepts of print

Know where to find the title

Know which direction print is read

Know where to start reading

Know different punctuation

Know the difference between a letter and a word

Correctly form captial and lowercase letters

Use sound spelling when writing

Example: If your student wanted to write "I live in a house." it might look like this "I liv in a hos."
